Cashculator Free 1.2.8 now with In-App Purchase and sandboxing

Today (Aug 3rd) we released to the Mac App Store version 1.2.8 Cashculator Free. Only the free version was updated and it includes the following important changes:

  • It is Lion-only. It won’t run on Snow Leopard.
  • It can now be unlocked through In-App purchase to have all the features of the regular Cashculator version. This means unlimited planning into the future and unlimited number of “what-if” scenarios.
  • Cashculator is now working inside the sandbox, which is an important new security feature in Lion. This brings increased protection from possible hackers if they break Cashculator to do their bidding. For example, Cashculator now won’t be able to access files on your file system, except the files it needs for work or your CSV exports.
  • Important: Because Cashculator works in the sandbox now, it also means that the database is moved to the application’s container, which is a special folder in the user’s Library folder (which is by default hidden in Lion).
In non-sandbox Cashculator, the database was at [user home]/Library/Application Support/cashculator/ folder, and now it is in [user home]/Library/Containers/com.apparentsoft.cashculatorfree/Data/Library/Application Support/cashculator/. Yes, much deeper in the folder hierarchy.
  • One of the features that was hit by sandboxing was the ability to have Cashculator’s database in any location in the file system and not only inside the Application Support. This is now not possible (remember the container?) so if you had your database in a custom folder, you should copy it inside the container folder above. If you didn’t move your database manually, you don’t need to do anything. All files will be moved inside the container automatically.

To celebrate this event we temporarily set the price of the in-app purchase at 33% discount of the regular price.

Note, only the Free edition of Cashculator requires OS X Lion. The regular version of Cashculator on the Mac App Store works on 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and the version available directly on our site is a Universal binary running on PPC or Intel on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

  • Facebook constantly spinning refresh indicator fix.
  • Lion Full-Screen mode support
  • Fix for unread count badges display in Lion
  • Fix for a lock-up that could sometimes occur when loading avatars
  • Fix a crash that could occur when swiping with 3 fingers for conversation view.

As always, use autoupdate from within Socialite itself or download from http://www.apparentsoft.com/socialite/download

Blast is now featured in Evernote trunk

Following recently added support for sending files to Evernote right from Blast, it is now featured on Evernote Trunk – the listing of applications that interoperate with Evernote. Currently it’s right below Evernote Peek!

Blast now allows sending files to Evernote with one click – Cmd-E to send currently selected file to Evernote’s default notebook. One can also right click on a file and send the file to any other Evernote notebook from the pop-up menu. Evernote application for Mac is required to be running on the Mac for this to work.

Socialite 1.3.5 brings support for Twitter changes

Read the release notes carefully. Socialite 1.3.5 was also submitted to the Mac App Store yesterday and should hopefully appear before June 30th.

  • Update for upcoming Twitter changes. Users who won’t see their Direct Messages or will get errors about them after June 30 will have to remove their Twitter service account from Socialite and authorize Socialite again. This is all because of a policy change at Twitter which now forces all the applications to specifically show to users that they will have read access to direct messages.
  • Fixed Twitter PIN auto-detection following Twitter’s layout changes.
  • Improved performance of Socialite at the end of refreshes, where it could beachball.
  • Allow creating Smart folders in any service, not only in Twitter.
  • Bug fix related to handling of removed feeds in RSS.
  • Increased database robustness. Handled some cases where database wasn’t saved between launches.
  • Added swipe (3 fingers) gestures support.
    • Swipe Right/Left to toggle conversation on selected status update.
    • Swipe Up for next unread, like hitting Space.
    • Swipe Down for previous unread, like hitting Shift-Space.
  • Major database cleanup is now done when Socialite quits. Users with big database should feel increased speed in the new version, after they quit it the first time.

Blast 1.7.3 brings Services support

Fresh from the stove, Blast 1.7.3 (not yet on the Mac App Store).

  • Added Cmd-E shortcut for sending file to default Evernote notebook
  • Added Cmd-Del and Cmd-Backspace shortcuts to moving selected files to Trash

Blast 1.7.2 released on Mac App Store and directly

After a long waiting period we’ve finally released Blast update on the Mac App Store. Last version on the store was 1.6.5, so it’s been several direct updates since then. But the good news is that App Store customers didn’t see the bugs that were in versions 1.7.0 and 1.7.1

This release fixes some important bugs and introduces some new features and changes. Read the details.

  • Dragging a file out of Blast window will close the window to allow access to space below it.
  • It’s now possible to drag a file from Finder to Blast’s icon in the menu. When the file is over Blast’s icon, the window will open and will allow you to move the file to the Sidebar for easy later access to it.
  • Change: Dragging icons from the sidebar now acts like dragging from recent list – i.e. you can drag them to drop in other applications. To remove an item from sidebar, select it and either press Delete/Backspace or use right-click menu.
  • Applications that are on the sidebar can now be used to open recent files. Just put the application on the sidebar and later drag a file from recent list on to the application to open it with this specific application. It’s also still possible to drag files onto folders in the sidebar to move them to these folders.
  • The applications on the sidebar are now also always added to Open With… menu item for recent files, on the bottom, after a separator.
  • Last used view (filter) is now saved between launches. Blast will open on the same view as it was closed.
  • FIX: Improved performance. Occasionally Blast used a lot of CPU for periods of time, causing slow OS operation.
  • FIX. In 1.7.1 it was impossible to drag files from Recent list to side bar.
  • FIX (not in 1.7.2 on Mac App Store): Blast window will now always open below the icon. Previously, when switching to lower-resolution display, Blast window might appear incorrectly on screen, making it unusable.

Blast 1.7 brings Evernote integration, QuickLook support and multiple file selection

After a long time, we’re happy to announce a fairly large update to Blast.

Version 1.7.0 adds multiple files selection, QuickLook previews (10.6+), Evernote integration (send files to Evernote), more tracked files and bug fixes. Below are the full release notes.

The version is already available on our site (check for updates from within Blast menu or download here). We’ll soon submit it to the Mac App Store as well but it usually takes about a week for new versions to appear there. So if you’re a Mac App Store customer, you might need to wait longer.

  • Multiple files selection – you can now select multiple files by clicking on them with Shift or with Cmd keys. You can then drag them all or right-click to get a menu relevant to all these files.
  • Evernote integration – you can now send files to Evernote, even to specific notebooks. Evernote for Mac is required for this.
  • Quicklook previews – Pressing space while on a file or files in the recent files list will now show these files in a Quicklook panel a-la Finder. The shortcut to reveal the selected files in Finder is now Cmd-Return, instead of Space, like in previous versions.
  • Separated lists of files in each filter. Now each filtered view has its own list of files, so if you add a lot of images, for example, they won’t remove your documents or applications. The “All Files” view will show the combined list of all these filters and may now be much longer.
  • A new setting in Preferences allows selecting the number of files you want to have in your recent list, per filter. Increased the maximum number to 500 files per filter. So the “All files” view can now reach 3000 files.
  • You can sign to Blast newsletter right from within the application (in the menu).
  • Documents modified by other users on your Mac, which are also logged in will now not show in Blast.
  • Fixed a bug where folders and applications wouldn’t be tracked by Blast if “Opened Files” setting was checked off.
  • Fixed automatic checking of new versions, which was broken in 1.6.5 for most users.
  • Added debugging log (accessible with Cmd-L). May be helpful if you want to know why something’s invisible in Blast or need to give more information to our support.
